Our Idaho Pasture Pig Breeding Herd

We have a small registered breeding herd of three sows and one boar. They are rotated through our pasture system year round. When the sows are about a week away from farrowing we move them to their own private pasture with their own private hut. They stay there with their piglets until weaning which can be anywhere between 5-8 weeks depending on time of year and the condition of mom. We do not cut teeth, dock tails, or give iron shots as the babies have access to dirt from day one. We castrate at weaning. We occasionally have feeders and registered breeders for sale on our livestock sale page.

Lort – TFDT Bandit J3303

Lort is our 1 year-old, friendly, tri-colored boar. He’s sired two litters for us already and we are pretty sure has 2 more on the way.

Martha – SAF Fate J4213

Martha came to the farm as a young gilt with her sister, Milkdud, in Sept ’22. She’s grown well and farrowed her first litter of 7 this June. She’s proven to have a good mothering instinct.

Milkdud – SAF Fate J4214

Milkdud came to the farm with her sister Martha. She had her first litter in May of 2023 and proved to be a good mother, weaning all 7 of the piglets she farrowed.

Ginger – C3J Fate H1611

Ginger is our oldest and biggest sow. She’s had 5 litters total, one of which has been here on the farm. She’s a very sweet sow and an excellent mother.
